A Course All Investors Should Attend

A

I have always wanted to attend the Value Investing Mastery Course (or VIMC) by BigFatPurse as I have heard many good things about it. However, as I am working and living in Tokyo, there was no opportunity for me to attend. Luckily for me, they recently released eVIMC, which is the e-learning equivalent of the popular VIMC.

Personally, I have always preferred e-learning over physical lectures as it allows me to be on “own time own target” mode. I can speed up the video (I usually watch it at x2 speed), skip ahead for parts that I am already familiar with, and repeat parts where I don’t fully comprehend.

This past weekend, I dedicated some time to attending eVIMC and it was one of the best two hours I spent on my financial education.

I feel that the main things that differentiates eVIMC from other courses or books are that eVIMC provides:

  • Clear, logical explanations
  • Precise breakdown of steps in the approach
  • Localization for the Singapore market

Don’t you hate it when a course/book/article generically tells you to invest in a “good company” without telling you what makes a good company?

In eVIMC, they not only backed their methodology with clear reasoning, but they also provided a step-by-step guide on how to identify a good company. No more guesswork or filling in the blanks!

With that, I could easily adapt and cherry-pick their strategy to complement areas where my current stock-picking strategy is lacking. It does feel like my stock-picking strategy just got an upgrade 😉

I enjoyed the course and learned/refreshed many things, and I strongly encourage you to at least check out the two free preview lectures of eVIMC available. Click on eVIMC in this link and then scroll to the middle where the “Class Curriculum” is to access the free lectures.

Should you decide that it is worth attending, you can even use SGXCAFE10 to redeem a 10% discount on VIMC or eVIMC. Original costs are SGD98 for VIMC and USD58 for eVIMC.

If you have any questions about the courses (or anything related to BigFatPurse), BigFatPurse has graciously agreed to my invitation to answer all queries on SGXcafe’s own forum! The forum post is located here.

Happy learning!

Conflict of Interest Declaration: I do not own shares in BigFatPurse but if you do sign up for the courses via the links or discount codes, I will receive a small commission. This is at no extra cost to you, and everything I receive goes back into supporting the running costs of SGXcafe. I truly recommend the course and would do so even if I didn’t receive anything for it.
